The ratings on TripAdvisor are based on the amount and content of reviews by people who dined at the restaurants. In other words, if the customers rate highly the food, service and atmosphere of the given restaurant on the scale from 1 to 5 and if it has many recent reviews, TripAdvisor also rates it.
