David Yeremyan: We will launch new restaurants this year

A very interesting development has taken place in the restaurant market of Yerevan: Smoking Chef Grill & Wine restaurant, one of the best steakhouses of the city, has joined the restaurant chain of Yeremyan Projects.

In an interview to GastroVino, General Director of Yeremyan Projects David Yeremyan introduced the details of the deal. 

How was the decision about this project made?

Smoking Chef founders came up with a proposal of cooperation. We had been interested in the idea of having a steakhouse for a long time, and we had our vision and thoughts. Smoking Chef is one of the best steakhouses in the city, therefore, we accepted the offer and decided to invest in the project.

Will Smoking Chef undergo changes?

Smoking Chef is a well developed brand with an interesting concept and unique environment. Currently there is no need to make serious content changes. Yeremyan Projects will preserve the conceptual direction and format of Smoking Chef restaurant. We will only implement improvements in management and service. We also intend to preserve the restaurant’s European cuisine, as well as dishes from the dominating smoked meat.

Until now the high quality meat for preparing steaks has been imported from Russia. Our company implements two large-scale projects in cattle breeding. We have recently opened a pig farm in Dilijan and brought to Armenia pig breeds (landrace,  yorkshire, duroc) of famous Canadian Genesus Genetics company. We have already got a cattle breeding farm in Jermuk, where we breed bovine animals: fleckvieh cows. Thus, from now on we will use mainly local meat for making steaks in accordance with the highest standards of quality.

All the restaurants of Yeremyan Projects: Tavern Yerevan chain, Lavash, Sherep, serve mainly Armenian national dishes. Have you decided to move beyond this format?

Introducing the national cuisine using traditional and new approaches is and has always been our main goal. Certainly, we can always develop and perfectionate our brand, but our company has worked hard for many years, gained rich experience and have already reached the level, where we can start investing in new directions.

I wouldn’t like to give all the details at this stage, but I would note that Yeremyan Projects will launch new restaurants this year. This doesn’t mean that we aim to abandon our mission of introducing the national cuisine in new ways. Moreover, by adopting new directions, we accomplish the wish of our customers. We have heard on many occasions that people wish to see the style and quality of Yeremyan Projects at restaurants with other orientations.
