NOA Wines presents its first sweet variety, white and natural

Noah of Areni (NOA) has introduced a new variety of wine. It is the company’s its fifth product - a natural sweet white dessert wine. This is the first sweet wine in the NOA wine family, made exclusively from Armenian grape varieties. This wine contains natural sweetness secured by the veil protection the grape clusters had until the December harvest.

“Our new method of making wine is unique. It is called “late harvest”: the grapes are left on the vine longer than is necessary for standard wines. Through the long ripening, the grapes grow dehydrated, the sugar content becomes concentrated – basically, the grapes almost become raisins. Due to the high sugar content, the fermentation is long and slow, and it stops when alcohol level reaches about 13%, leaving natural residual sugar,” said Arpine Manukyan, Marketing Manager at NOA Wines.

Co-founder of NOA Wines Arsen Mkrtchyan adds that a Russian Wine Club sommelier rated this natural sweet wine 10 out of 10at the ProdExpo international exhibition in Moscow several months ago. Arsen underlines that the evaluation was very strict and the evaluating experts had a unique and strict taste, but they all classified this wine as perfect.

The peculiarity of this dessert wine is that it is not fortified and it has balanced acidity and sweetness.

Co-founder of NOA Wines and Chairman of the Schuler Group Jacob Schuler has told that although he isn’t particularly fond sweet wines, he likes this wine very much because the aroma stands out. The Swiss co-founder emphasizes that this new variety is for wine lovers who appreciate late harvest wines, because it is really unique.

“Arman Manukyan, our company’s winemaker, decided to experiment two years ago and leave a part of the harvest untouched for a long time and harvest the grape quite late. Arman said it was a test and he was not sure it would result in a presentable product. We might have never introduced this wine to you, but the experiment has turned out successful, and now we have a very unique sweet wine,” concluded Schuler.

Noah of Areni (NOA) recommends serving his sweet wine cold at +7° C and combining it with fruit, berry tarts, cheesecake, and Roquefort.
