Noah of Areni Reserve has hit the shelves in Armenia. The wine has been kept in bottles for six months after a year-long aging period in the barrels of French oak to be presented to Armenian wine lovers on December 12.
Before the launch in Armenia, Noah of Areni Reserve was exported to Switzerland and Germany.

The producer, Noah of Areni considers the new variety exclusive after the success it had at Shanghai and Krakow expos.
The company was founded in 2017 by President of Schuler St. JakobsKellerei Jakob Schuler and his Armenian partners Arsen Mkrtchyan and Aram Manukyan.

Mr Schuler, whose family has been involved in winemaking in Europe for 325 years, has told GastroVino that he visited Georgia before coming to Armenia but did not find varieties he was looking for. He is against non-Armenian concepts when it comes to Noah of Areni, so only the endemic Armenian grape variety of Areni is used in production. According to Mr Schuler, it has everything that is required for good wine.

“It came as a great surprise to me when winemaker Arman Manukyan and his team managed to achieve such quality in the first year of production. It took hard work from them. I have tried the wines and I can say they are truly amazing,” Jakob Schuler told about Noah of Areni Reserve.

Noah of Areni’s wines appeared in the Armenian market in August of 2019. The company introduced white and rose wines first, and in September, it was the red’s turn. Now Armenian wine lovers can buy Noah of Areni Resetve.

“Noah of Areni Reserve is made from pure Areni grape variety. We harvested the grape in our own vineyard. We don’t buy grape from others on principle, because we want to guarantee our oversight in every stage of production to secure the quality of grape and wine. We only use organic fertilizers. We harvest 4 tons of grapes from one hectare to secure the exclusive quality of grape,” Director of Noah of Areni Arsen Mkrtchyan told GastroVino.

The company plans to expand its vineyard, which currently takes up the territory of 50 hectares, in the next few years.
“We want to expand in Areni region, and we are already creating new vineyards. Our goal is to have a 100ha vineyard in the next 4 to 5 years. It means we will get around 400 tons of grapes and 340,000 bottles of wine.

Apart from the main grape variety, Areni, we want to grow other local varieties as well: “Garan Dmak”, “Kakhet”, “Tozot”. They have big potential and they can represent Armenia abroad,” said Arsen Mkrtchyan.
