Armenia Wine Company with its silver medals was among the successful international competitors. Approval from international experts

Every year for the past 50 years the International Wine & Spirit Competition has hosted international winemaking and cognac making companies, the production of which is being assessed by more than 400 international experts from around 30 countries. The contest is aimed at rewarding excellence in the sector of wines and alcoholic drinks production, promoting recognition of quality work around the world.

The production of Armenia Wine Company has won 3 silver medals. The company’s 3 and 5-star cognacs received 90 points, and the 7-star - 93 points, taking a leading position among both Armenian and international producers. He added that although victories always cheer up, they also imply additional responsibility. The expert assures that the company will register new achievements in making Armenia more recognizable around the world.

Combination of the Armenian and French

According to the rules of the contest, the cognac taking the silver medal should be excellent with exclusive balance and complexity of aroma and taste. It should be significantly different from the competitors.

Cognac maker Olivier Chapt links the compliance of Armenia Wine cognacs with these standards to several key factors. Those are Armenia’s soil, climate, grape that give unique taste, nuances and aroma to the drink. These are supplemented by the expert’s contribution with his knowledge and years of international experience.

He emphasized that the cognacs are made based on the French technologies with application of new equipment present at Armenia Wine Company. According to him, the company attaches special importance to the distillation with the use of modern French equipment.

Attractive for young people

“We need time to make high quality cognac, years of work. The aging of the drink takes place in high quality barrels, made of French oak, which is among the best in the world. Cognacs of various ages, of course, have different specifics of taste. For instance, if you try younger cognac, you will feel the aroma of the old oak, which has freshness and sweetness. The older the cognac, the more complex it gets with more nuances added,” the French cognac maker said.

He added that the 3-star cognac is especially popular among the youth, as its lightness facilities the tasting process, which is why cognac is popular during parties.

Traveling in the world of aromas

“Of course, the best moment is trying the cognac. You need to take the glass and feel the aroma, appreciating the quality. Then you start to travel in the world of nuances of the aroma: different fruits, fresh and dried, oak, vanilla, chocolate, and sometimes coffee. You smell the aroma, and your only wish at the moment is trying the drink,” Olivier Chapt  said and tried the cognac.

Let us add that earlier 4 wines of Armenia Wine Company won again gold and silver medals in Berliner Wein Trophy contest in Germany.
