Voskeni Wines is carrying out an unusual initiative: wine painting. Voskeni Wines co-founder, creator of Art and Wine project Alina Mkrtchyan has told GastroVino how she came up with the idea and demonstrated her own skills in wine painting.
Wine is a form of art by itself, and I thought it could be entwined with another, such as painting. Wine painting actually exists (wine grisaille), but it is a niche, not widely known direction. We decided to give it more modern and free undertones.
Our project is actually therapeutic and meditative: you grow less tense as you savor wine, and if you add painting to the process, you get a “reload” of the brain and start to see the issues that are bothering you in a new light.

Art and Wine project was launched in April of 2017. We organized wine tasting dinners at restaurants and concluded them with painting sessions, suggesting to the guests to use the offered wines as paints with the help of painter Gohar Sargsyan. Frankly speaking, I was surprised to see how fell it went. Even elder men were so engrossed in the process, like children!

We use two red (Areni, Areni Khndoghni) and white Voskeni Wines varieties as well as the paints that Gohar Sargsyan makes from wild flowers and plants, and watercolor paper so that the finished painting can preserve its initial look. Even people who never painted before are making wonderful pictures.
The project includes not only wine tasting dinners, but also one-time workshops at our factory, which guarantee to fill your day with positive vibes and the warmth of the sun.
