“The Soul of Wine” - a modern dance premiere at Van Ardi winery

Van Ardi Winery hosted the premiere of “The Soul of Wine”, a modern dance performance staged by MIHR Theatre, with the musical accompaniment of Tiezerk Band.

The performance began with founder and winemaker Varuzhan Mouradian’s introduction, in which he presented the ancient Armenian traditions of wine. These traditions were then transferred to stage through the deeply symbolic and meaningful movements of modern dance, music and wine, which together presented the history and cultural significance of wine for Armenians.

Van Ardi is a boutique winery, located in one of the oldest winemaking regions, Aragatsotn. As a family winery, it is Van Ardi’s vision is to help develop wine culture in Armenia and put Armenia on the international wine map with its high-quality and unique wines.

Van Ardi also has a passion to contribute to cultural development and growth. Ani Mouradian, responsible for the winery’s events and communications, noted that, since wine itself is a form of art, it has a close connection with other forms of creative expression. This is why the winery hosts various events in which they pair wine not only with food, as during their ongoing winery tours, but also with the arts.

This weekend the pairing with MIHR Theatre was modern dance, and, to be continued in 2019, we can expect pairings with music, painting, sculpture, film, folk dance and other collaborative evenings at Van Ardi. “Using the tools that art can give, Armenian wine can be perceived from a completely new perspective”, Varuzhan Mouradian said.
