Yerevan Wine Days to kick off on May 3

Saryan St. in Yerevan is going to turn into the meeting point of wine lovers and producers for two days. On May 3-4, it will host Yerevan Wine Days. The booths will open at 17:00 and close at 23:00.

The number of Russian tourists visiting Armenia has grown. Some of them are coming for sightseeing and others for the annual event organized by Eventtoura.

The objective

Co-founder and director of Eventtoura, organizer of Yerevan Wine Days Mary Badalyan has talked to GastroVino about the event. According to her, this edition is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of great Armenian writer, poet Hovhannes Tumanyan. The Tumanyan House-Museum will feature in the event with performances, which will be followed by a jazz concert. The house-museums of other prominent Armenians Martiros Saryan, Hakob Kojoyan and Ara Sargsyan are also expected to have booths and offer visits to the museums to the attendees.

More space

The venue turned out to be too narrow as the event gained popularity, and in 2018, the guests found moving between booths quite difficult. With support from Yerevan Municipality, organizers have doubled the space provided for the event.

The number of participating companies is unchanged, but contrary to previous years, the booths are going to stand further from each other.

Yerevan Wine Days is going to introduce the guests to both small and large winemaking companies and the stories of their foundation.

Eventtoura will summarize the event with the help of tour agencies to find out how many foreign guests were in attendance. According to Mary Badalyan, tourists made 40% of the 20-25,000 guests of Yerevan Wine Days in previous years.

7 varieties in 2 days

Guests are offered to purchase a service bundle for AMD 6,000, which includes a wineglass and the opportunity to taste seven varieties of wine of the guest’s choice in two days. Previously, they guests could taste 25 varieties for that price, but the regulations were changed because the human palate cannot feel the taste of the wine after three different varieties.

This year the guests will have to pay additional AMD 500 for each variety that is not included in the service bundle.
